What possibilities do you have to check if WMI works correctly and the Repository is not broken?

The easiest and fastest way is to run gpupdate / force and to see if you get the “completed successfully” message! Another option is WBEMTEST to query specific values!

When I had to update our Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS Farm (consisting of 1 RDS – Connection Broker and 3 RDS – Session Host Server) I couldn’t shut down one of the 3 Session Host Servers correctly.

I waited for minutes but the  Server didn’t turn off. The only possibility I had, was to press the “physical button”.  After turning on the server again it took a longer  time than usual  till the Login Screen appeared!   I wanted to change the RDS Login – Settings for this RDS Server and opened “Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration” MMC.  The warning message “The settings for this Remote Desktop Session Host server cannot be retrieved” was displayed.  Pressing the Power Button seemed to destroy the WMI – Repository!

Here you can find  the solution to repair the WMI Repository!
