Here I describe how I changed the user sign-in method from an (on premise) ADFS installation to the Pass-through authentication with single sign-on enabled. In 2016 the only possibility for a real single sign on between the on premise AD and the Office 365 / Microsoft Azure was to implement an on premise ADFS infrastructure with a public certificate, what I did for my environment.

You can use Windows PowerShell to turn external sharing on or off. Using the SharePoint Online Management Shell, administrators can now enforce new controls over how external users accept invitations. When enabled, the RequireAcceptingAccountMatchInvitedAccount parameter requires external users to accept invitations with the email account with which they originally received the invitation.

With Windows Azure IAAS you can easily create VM’s in the cloud. The easiest way to access them is to build a cross-premises connection between your local (on premises) and the Azure network. You can do this by a site to site VPN connection. On the Azure side you have a VPN endpoint. On your side you can use TMG 2010 as your local endpoint.
